The MasterCard LAC Innovation Forum  brings together industry leaders and tech innovators to discuss the forces reshaping digital commerce.  As a centerpiece of this year’s forum, MasterCard is inviting top developers from the region who will join developers from Miami for a unique Hackathon focused on solutions that create more inclusive societies.


The Code4Inclusion Hackathon brings together eight teams of talented developers, designers and entrepreneurs to compete over 24 hours by building amazing technology using the MasterCard APIs. Attendees will be asked to create a solution for challenges that have been submitted by real MasterCard customers under the theme of financial inclusion, we encourage solutions including mobile, IoT, wearables and more.

MasterCard’s Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) initiative encourages the development community to innovate with us in advancing commerce. Developers can now leverage previously proprietary APIs for MasterCard’s payments and data services to create groundbreaking e-commerce and mobile payment applications. Currently there are 21 APIs available for developers.

First Place

Success at the MasterCard Innovation Forum Hackathon is recognized and rewarded!
The overall winning team will get the opportunity to accelerate their winning prototype with MasterCard and the customer for which they built the solution, they will also receive $10,000.

Second Place

The Runner-up team will receive $5,000

Third Place

The third place winner will receive $2,000.

Attendees at the MasterCard Innovation Forum Hackathon will be asked to chose one of the challenges submitted by MasterCard customers. The Challenges will be presented on the morning of the hackathon, teams can choose any one challenge, we will allow multiple teams to chose one challenge.

Team Size

Teams of up to 5 humans are allowed. You can also add 1 cyborg, Furby, drone, or Sphero.

Fresh Code Enforced

We all start coding at the same time. This is done to keep things fair. Please don’t come in and build on top of previous projects if you want to win.

No PowerPoints

You must demo your hack in order to present. No slide-decks or power-points will be allowed. 2 minute presentation 1 minute Q&A from Judges

Ownership & IP

Teams have full ownership of everything they build at our events and are free to do with it as they wish.


Each hackathon has its individual page, which projects should be submitted on. Submission time is normally 1pm Sunday unless stated otherwise.

Code Review

Winning teams will be subject to a code-review at some point following the event or immediately before winning.
